WELLSTON, Ohio -- October 22, 2021 -- For the past two years, the Make Wellston Beautiful organization in Wellston has generously donated gift baskets for Fluor-BWXT’s annual Employee Giving Campaign raffles and auctions. This year, they provided three baskets, with themes ranging from fall to Christmas.
Betsy Fain is part of Make Wellston Beautiful, a 501C3 charitable organization that recently donated gift baskets to the annual Employee Giving Campaign at the Portsmouth site.
The baskets were auctioned off to three lucky winners.
“We are truly appreciative of all the donations we’ve received to help make our campaign successful,” Community Relations Specialist Deneen Garner said. “Once again, this has been a challenging year because of the pandemic and Betsy Fain and Tami Phillips came through for us. They did a beautiful job on the baskets they donated.”
Funds raised during the annual campaign are donated to charitable organizations in Jackson, Pike, Ross and Scioto counties to help the less fortunate.
Make Wellston Beautiful is an all-volunteer organization that relies on fundraisers, grants and donations to maintain ball fields, to sponsor a mural-painting program utilizing high school students, and to coordinate city cleanup activities such as graffiti removal in Wellston. When told about FBP’s campaign, Make Wellston Beautiful did not hesitate to get involved.
“The programs we manage have grown in ways no one anticipated,” co-founder Tami Phillips said. “At first, we didn’t realize your organization existed. We were glad to help. We shopped all year and looked for sales and opportunities to buy local.”
Make Wellston Beautiful members include Phillip and Betsy Fain, Tami Phillips, Mike Potts, Bill Kilgore, Eric Lung and Jeff Plumber. Plumber’s son helps the organization obtain grants and his daughter coordinates the mural-painting projects for community beautification efforts in Wellston.
