FBP Community Commitment Chair Tim Poe presented the scholarships at Jackson High School on May 2 during the school’s scholarship awards ceremony.
“Every year, the scholarship judges review and analyze dozens and dozens of applications,” Poe said. “We score each application and vote as a team to decide who should be selected.”
Stevens, Mullins and Moore were selected from a pool of more than 100 applicants.
Stevens plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in animal science, with the end goal of earning a doctorate in veterinary medicine. She works part-time while attending school and also helps maintain her grandparent’s farm. She is a member of several clubs, some of which include Spanish Club, Leo Club, National Honor Society, and the Youth Climate Action Team.
Mullins will be majoring in computer science and software development at Ohio University. During his high school career, he has been learning Python computer programming language, playing baseball, golf and the trumpet.
Moore will be earning a degree in nursing and plans to become a nurse practitioner. She has learned to balance a full schedule with work, school, extracurricular activities such as Leo Club and 4-H, as well as doing some volunteer work.
