Mary Ellen Rooney is the Senior Administrative Assistant for Fluor-BWXT’s Nuclear Safety and Engineering (NS&E) team.  Mary Ellen and her husband Mark live in Portsmouth. They have three children, twin sons Kyle and Keith and Samantha, and four grandchildren, Landon, Maxwell, Griffin and Violet.

Mary Ellen is very dedicated to helping others through her work with the Employee Giving Campaign and Christmas Gifts for Children programs at FBP, “These programs are very dear to my heart. It’s so important to be able to give back to your community and help those in need.”

When she’s not working or helping others, Mary Ellen loves to read. She reads at least one book a week and collects cookbooks. She also enjoys spending time on the weekends with her grandchildren and watching cooking shows.

Mary Ellen has worked with the Engineering group for eight years and credits the team’s working relationship with making the department run so smoothly.

What does Mary Ellen enjoy most about her job at PORTS?

“In Engineering, anything can happen! As the administrative assistant, I need to be that go-to person for the team.  They all know they can come to me for assistance and I’m there to help.  Team work makes the Engineering team a success and I am so proud to be a part of this team.”
