Katie Hawkins has worked at the site for over seven years. The Portsmouth native currently works in Nuclear Materials Control and Accountability (NMC & A, but started her career in Non-Destructive Assay (NDA).
When she’s not at work, chances are you will find her doing something she enjoys in the outdoors.
“I don’t like to sit still, I enjoy lots of hobbies and trying new hobbies including participating in Spartan races, CrossFit classes, spending time with family and anything outdoors, from scuba diving to backpacking and kayaking.”
“The thing I like most is the people. I believe working with good people creates an efficient and effective team which aides in solving challenges and achieving goals. Another aspect of working here that I appreciate is the amount of opportunities to continue growing and learning new things. The NMC & A group has really challenged me to step out of my comfort zone and be more interactive, not only with my group, but with other organizations as well. In doing so, this has helped me to better understand the functions of the different buildings on site and has increased my overall knowledge of PORTS as well.”
