Drew Carter has worked for the past 10 years in Environmental Remediation at the PORTS site.
He is well known around the site and the community for his dedication to improving the lives of young people in southern Ohio and building a stronger community.
He is the board president of the Fourteenth Street Community Center, founder of Portsmouth Block Party, co-founder of Watch Me Grow Ohio and Trillium Project, City of Portsmouth Steering Committee member, member of the Portsmouth NAACP, and founder of the Future American Men Leadership and Development program where he works with at-risk youth.
“It’s important that I leave our community for our young people better than I found it,” he explained. “Southeastern Ohio is a beautiful area and it’s up to us to make it an enjoyable place to reside. They say it takes a village to raise a child and I’m just doing my part.”
When he is not volunteering with the community, Drew enjoys traveling, learning about different cultures, and spending time on his farm.
“The environmental remediation department is a great group of people who make long days much better!”

Fluor-BWXT was formed to specifically address the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Gaseous Diffusion Plant (GDP) Decontamination and Decommissioning (D&D) Project.
The team brings strong Ohio roots through 70 years of combined project management experience, and 125 years of manufacturing operations both in and outside of the nuclear field.
Combined, our companies have employed thousands of Ohioans across the state and have generated millions of dollars in revenues for Ohio companies and small businesses.
