Dan Joosse is the Nuclear Facility Co-Manager in the X-720. He has worked at the plant site for 25 years.
Dan and his wife live in Chillicothe with seven of their 10 kids. He enjoys traveling with his family.

“We travel back to Virginia Beach where my wife grew up and have taken three trips out west to the Pacific and camped at most of the iconic national parks,” said Dan. “Traveling along with skiing and kayaking has shaped our kids’ lives as much as anything, and having 10 kids has pretty much defined ours.”

When they aren’t traveling there’s a good chance he’s supporting his kids at Zane Trace schools, “The kids have been a part of almost every sport except golf and bowling so these events can seem like a second home.”

Dan was born in Michigan, and graduated high school in Wisconsin, but enjoys calling southern Ohio home now. “I asked someone years ago how long it takes to be a naturalized citizen of southern Ohio, they said you really have to be born here,” said Dan. “I think I could fool the best of them now.”

What does he enjoy most about his job at PORTS?

“I enjoy working alongside longtime friends as we coax this place along as well as those new to the plant site as they discover its unique capabilities. I was on the USS Enterprise which used fuel from this plant so I have seen how the work done here has helped this country project its power and resolve in a very significant way.”
