Austin Vance is a NDA specialist at PORTS. The Lenore, West Virginia native now calls Chillicothe home with his wife and two young children.

Austin made his way to southern Ohio through Shawnee State University where he played basketball and graduated with a degree in chemistry and minors in math and biology. But, basketball wasn’t his only sport. In high school Austin played football and was inducted into his high school’s inaugural Hall of Fame class for his athletic accomplishments.

Austin keeps pretty busy this time of year. For the past eight years he has helped coached high school basketball in the region, and this year he is the junior varsity coach for Waverly High School.

What do you enjoy most about your job at PORTS?

“I enjoy the people I work with. I enjoy doing different types of analysis that we have in the NDA department,” said Vance. “Our schedule of four days a week, 10 hours a day is probably my favorite thing about working here.”
