PORTSMOUTH, Ohio – September 28, 2016 – Beginning the week of Oct. 3, 2016, excavation and road work activities are planned for the North Access Road connecting the Dept. of Energy Portsmouth Site with Shyville Road.
Excavation activities will occur adjacent to and on both sides of the North Access Road on the south side of the railroad underpass. Prior to the initiation of these excavations, traffic control devices (such as additional signage) will be put in place in accordance with the Ohio Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. No lane closures are expected. Temporary use of flaggers may be necessary.
The use of an alternate route to the plant will be necessary from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2016. The North Access Road will be closed to vehicular traffic during these hours while additional speed humps are installed across both lanes at the gate near the X-735 entrance. These speed humps will prevent traffic from swinging into the oncoming northbound traffic lane to avoid slowing for the speed humps.
All motorists in the area should be aware of these activities and adjust routes accordingly.
