Fluor-BWXT Provides $46,000 Grant to Jackson County Business

JACKSON COUNTY, Ohio -- April 8, 2021 -- Fluor-BWXT is committed to partnering in the economic development of southern Ohio and recently supported Jackson County’s Phoenix Quality Manufacturing with a grant of $46,000.

Others pictured included representatives of the Jackson County Economic Development Partnership (JCEDP), the Joint Economic Development Initiative of Southern Ohio (JEDISO), and several Jackson County elected officials.

“Phoenix Quality Manufacturing is an excellent example of the potential of the local economy,” said JD Dowell, FBP Site Project Director. “From the ground up, this company is dedicated to filling a market void and creating jobs in southern Ohio.”

In less than a year, Phoenix Quality Manufacturing has developed from an idea to local manufacturer, supplying much needed surgical face masks around the country. Currently, the company is putting out at least 35,000 masks a day, but is looking to expand in the future. In addition, Phoenix Quality Manufacturing buys some of their source materials from companies in Pike and Scioto counties.

“We were born of the pandemic but we will be providing high quality, American-made safety products well after the pandemic is over, “ said Seth Stockmeister, Vice President of Operations. “In addition, we are creating much needed manufacturing jobs here in southern Ohio.”

“PQM is a clear and active example of FBP’s commitment to job growth in this area,” said Steve Pritchett, Board Chairman of the Jackson County Economic Development Partnership (JCEDP). The FBP commitment is a substantial component in the creation of nearly 40 jobs in southern Ohio. The number of aforementioned jobs is expected to ascend from there.”

Significant economic investments like these are being made in the region through FBP’s partnership with JEDISO, with the goal to create and retain jobs for a sustainable and strong economy in Pike, Scioto, Ross, and Jackson counties.
